J Mike Morris serves as a Senior Scientific Advisor for the Irish Medicines Board, a position he has held since 2004. Dr Morris’ previous position at the IMB was as pharmaceutical director, with responsibility for assessing applications (CMC data) for marketing authorisations for human and animal drugs; applications for variations, renewals and other postmarketing activities; applications for clinical trials; and pharmaceutical sampling and monitoring. Prior to that, he served as a senior pharmacist for Ireland’s National Drugs Advisory Board. Dr Morris has been a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain since 1974, and of the Pharmaceutical Society Ireland since 1988. He is currently a member of the European Pharmacopoeia Commission, of which he was president from 2004-2007.
