Peter Bogaert heads the life sciences group in the Brussels office of Covington & Burling LLP, which he joined in 1992. He has been a member of the Brussels bar since 1984 and was called to the English bar in 1995. Mr Bogaert has developed a pan-European practice in the regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other health products, as well as biotechnology, foods and feedingstuffs under European Community law and the national laws of the EC Member States. His practice comprises, among others, regulatory counselling, litigation, strategic advice and compliance assistance. He has been involved in various legislative projects, including the European orphan medicines regime and the revision of the pharmaceutical legislation. He frequently speaks at professional seminars, and has taught pharmaceutical law classes at the universities of Leuven and Brussels. Mr. Bogaert is a member of the editorial board of the Regulatory Affairs Journal and author of EC Pharmaceutical Law, published in 1992. He is a co-founder of the Brussels Pharma Law Group, established in 1995. From 1987-1992 Mr Bogaert served as an assistant at the University of Leuven School of Law, teaching practical courses in administrative law. He holds law degrees from the University of Leuven (magna cum laude, 1982) and Oxford University (first honours, 1984).
